About
When I realized that I could take my art one step further by making my own colors and create my own story, I was simply hooked. That’s how Mipico came to life.
My name is Sebastian and I live in a small village near Gothenburg in Sweden. As one of the most diverse countries in the northern hemisphere, we are always close to nature, the long cold winter nights and the ever-so desired light that warms us up. With my hands-on approach to my work, I want to share my view of the northern spirit.

The vision
Mipico stands for Minerals Pigments Colors and visions a sustainable way to interact with our surroundings. The pigments sold here come from all kind of stones, mussels, or any non-organic material that I find likeable. The art is made with the aim of being interesting and pleasant, affordable and unique. You can always read about each painting, simply click on any item in the shop to read about their story.
The art is acrylic based with a mix of regular colors and, of course, with paint made from my own pigments. Most of the paintings come with frames made in the studio. The paintings are easy to fit in a home, an office space or wherever you may like.
- Do you have a company that is focused on a specific business area and wants art that reflects the connection?
- Do you want to paint your house with pigments extracted from your own rocks? A more locally produced pigment would be hard to find.
If you have any interesting ideas, just let me know.

The process

Collecting materials
The first step is to collect materials to make the pigments with. It can be almost anything that you can find in nature. Rocks, mussels, sea shells, sand, clay – the possibilities are endless!
Making the pigments
- Pebbles are sorted by color and washed if necessary
- Crushed and mortared to the smallest fraction possible
- Sorting of grain sizes where the fractions give different colors and properties. The largest grain sizes are classified as Re-Run and processed once more and then sorted into different fractions
- Evaluation of colors in the various fractions
- Finished pigment
